Starbase Events is an independent, privately run website. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, authorized by, or connected to Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (SpaceX), the City of Starbase, Cameron County, or any government agency. Nothing on this site is official information from any of them.

SpaceX, Starbase, Starship, Falcon, and Dragon are trademarks of Space Exploration Technologies Corp. We use those names only to describe and report on what we are writing about, which is what trademark law calls nominative use. We make no claim to them and we do not use them to suggest that SpaceX has any involvement in this site.

The same goes for our store, Starbase Supply. Everything sold there is our own original design, made and shipped by our print partner. It is not official SpaceX merchandise, it is not licensed by SpaceX, and no part of what you pay goes to them.

Other names and marks that appear here belong to their owners. The full version of this, along with the rest of the rules for using the site, is in our Terms of Use.

If you sign up for launch alerts. Your email address, which is required, and your first name and phone number, which are both optional. Signups go into a private Google spreadsheet that only we can see.

If you submit an event. Only the event details themselves: title, description, date, time, location, and category. The form does not ask who you are, and we do not store anything about you.

Automatically, like every website. Our host keeps short-lived server logs that include your IP address and browser type. Google sets advertising cookies. We do not run any analytics product of our own, so we cannot see individual visitors or follow you around the site.

One exception worth naming. If a signup fails to save to the spreadsheet, we write it to those same server logs so the signup isn't simply lost, and we move it over by hand. It is rare, and the details are treated exactly like a normal signup.

On your device only. When you close the launch-alerts popup, your browser saves a small note so it stops bothering you. That note never leaves your device and never reaches us.

The reason most people sign up is Starship launches, and that is the bulk of what we send: the schedule, a heads-up the day before, and whether it flew or scrubbed. We use your first name only to say hello properly.

Alongside that, we send the occasional message about the site itself, things worth knowing locally, and our store. In practice that means a new guide or tool we have built, a roundup of events happening around Starbase, South Padre Island, and Brownsville, and now and then something from Starbase Supply. Some of those messages are promotional. That is the honest word for it, and it is why signing up says so plainly rather than burying it here.

This goes by email, and by text as well if you chose to give us a number. We do not send messages on behalf of other companies, and we do not hand your details to anyone who wants to sell you something.

We have never sold or shared your personal information, including in the past twelve months, and we do not rent it, trade it, or hand it to advertisers. The only companies that can see it are the handful of services we use to run the site, listed further down.

If you buy something from the store, two more companies come into it, and only for that order.

Stripe handles the payment. Your card number is entered on Stripe's own secure checkout and goes straight to them. It never touches our servers, and we never see or store it. We only learn that a payment succeeded, and your email, so we can send a receipt and fulfill the order.

Because you bought from us, we may also send you the occasional email about the store: a new design, or something we think you would actually want. Every one of those has an unsubscribe link, and using it has no effect on your order or on any receipt, shipping notice, or reply you need from us about a purchase. Those always come through.

Printify, our print-on-demand partner, actually makes and mails your order. To do that we pass along the name and shipping address you enter at checkout. They use it to print the item and ship it to you, and for nothing else on our behalf. See our shipping and returns policies for how orders work.

A phone number is always optional, and never required to sign up for launch alerts or to buy anything. If you give us one, this is exactly what is shown next to the field, and exactly what you are agreeing to:

You agree to recurring automated launch alerts and offers from Starbase Events. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to end, HELP for help.

Reply STOP to any text and the messages end. Reply HELP and you get our contact details back. Message frequency varies with the launch schedule, since that is what most of them are about, and your carrier's usual message and data rates apply. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

We store the wording you agreed to, word for word, next to the date. That record is the only reason we keep it. If the wording changes later, your row keeps the version you actually saw, and we treat that as the limit of what you agreed to rather than quietly upgrading it.

The signup form keeps it to one line, because this page is where the detail belongs:

"Occasional updates" means what the section above spells out: the site, local events, and the store. Nothing else, and nothing from anyone else.

Every email we send has an unsubscribe link. Use it and you are off the list, all of it, not just one kind of message. You can also just email us and ask, and we will do it by hand.

This site is free because Google shows ads on it. Google and its partners use cookies to serve those ads, and in some cases to personalize them based on your past browsing.

You can turn off personalized ads at Google My Ad Center, or opt out more broadly at optout.aboutads.info. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site works fine either way.

To be straight with you: we don't control what Google collects through those ads and we never see it. Google explains its side of it in how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

We keep your signup until you ask us to remove it, or until we shut the alerts down. There is no schedule beyond that, because there is no reason for us to hold a list of people who no longer want it.

Email mitch@brandyourstoryonline.com and we will tell you what we have about you, correct it, or delete it. We do this for anyone who asks, wherever you live, and we do not ask you to explain why. Expect a reply within 30 days, and usually a lot sooner than that.

We will never make you worse off for asking. There is no version of this site that works differently because you opted out of something.

The site is run from the United States, and the services we use store data there, so signing up means your information is handled in the US. If that isn't what you want, don't sign up: you can read everything here without giving us anything.

If you are in the UK, EU, or somewhere with similar rules, the only reason we hold your details is that you chose to give them to us, and you can take that back at any time by emailing us. You can also ask for a copy of what we have, ask us to correct it, or ask us to erase it, and you have the right to complain to your local data protection authority if you think we have handled it badly.

This site is meant for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect anything from them. If your child signed up, email us and we will delete it.

The signup list lives in a private spreadsheet, the connection to it is protected by a secret key, and the whole site is served over HTTPS. That said, we are a small operation and no website can promise perfect security, so we only collect what we actually need.

If we start collecting something new, we will update this page and change the date at the top. No sneaky rewrites.
